Lean and Green Challenge for students launched
What is the Lean and Green Challenge?
The Lean and Green Challenge is a competition for students who help businesses to win the Lean and Green Award. To win the Lean and Green Award there needs to be an Action Plan that specifies how the company intends to reduce their CO2 emissions in five years time, while increasing profitability. These include the company's logistic activities. The student with the best Action Plan will receive the Lean and Green Student Award and a prize in kind. The assessment will be carried out by TNO and Connekt. The prize is awarded twice a year.
What is the Lean and Green Award?
What is the Lean and Green Award? In 2012 the Duurzame Logistiek Programme, managed by Connekt, will support 250 leading companies in the field of sustainable logistics, in reducing their CO2 emissions by over 20% within a period of 5 years, while increasing their profitability. Companies can become front-runners by submitting an Action Plan that describes how they intend to go about it. The action plan must meet certain criteria. Click here for the Action Plan format, including the criteria.
After assessment and approval by TNO and Connekt, the relevant companies will receive the Lean and Green Award. They will also be allowed to use the Lean and Green logo. After obtaining the award, the companies' achievements are periodically monitored by the Duurzame Logistiek Programme. After the award there is the option to obtain the Lean and Green Label. This label is currently being developed.
