Urban Distribution Model
Increasingly in the Netherlands, sustainable urban distribution is put on the agenda by both national and local authorities and the business world - retailers, shippers, hauliers and providers of logistics.
There is a growing number of players that wish to contribute towards better, cleaner and smarter solutions and logistics procedures, to accomplish sustainable distribution methods in municipalities.
A prerequisite for the success of sustainable urban distribution is the ability to understand the dimensions and scope of supply flows. It also requires an idea of what the effects will be of potential logistical measures. A basic tool to help with this is the Urban Distribution Model. This model provides municipalities with an estimate of the magnitude of the distribution and facilitates a comparison of the effects of the different measures.
